Conquer

John 16:33

"In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world."

Mt. Everest, the tallest mountain in the world, stands at an incredible 29,032 feet above sea level. It has taken the lives of hundreds of people who've tried to reach the summit. Thousands of people have tried to conquer the feat over the years. The first to successfully achieve it was 2 men, Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay Sherpa of Nepal and New Zeland, in 1953. Since then there have been 6,098 summits as of December 2021.

What if Sir Edmund and Tenzing hadn't tried? What if the tribulation were too hard? What if they gave up half way? What if they got scared? What if they were talked out of it?

When we ask God to lead our life, He doesn't say it will be easy. In fact, He PROMISES tribulation. But, He also promises the ability to overcome. If we put our trust and faith in God alone we WILL overcome.

Life can feel hard, like we're attempting to climb a mountain that is impossibly tall. 117 billion people are said to have walked the earth since it's creation. Yet only 6,098 people have summited that mountain. It can seem impossible, like the odds are entirely stacked against you.

But, when you stand with God, accept him as Lord of your life, and allow Him the opportunity to move the mountain, you are able to do ANYTHING (Phillipians 4:13).

As I sit here typing this I am looking at a snow capped mountain. I've never climbed one. However, the scale of the mountains I see are Incomparable in comparison to Mt. Everest. When we spend time equating mountains, ours seems to only get bigger. When we look at the lives of others, our struggles seem unfair, unjustified, and like we're doing something wrong.

Parenting, careers, church, school, it can all seem like so much. So, whatever you're going through today or this week, stand with God because He ALREADY overcame the world.

Turn your focus on the one who moves mountains. Turn your eyes to the creator of the mountains. Keep looking at the God of heaven and earth. Your father turns your biggest mountains into your biggest miracles. Not only will you conquer your mountain but, it will make you look back at the mountain and see just a simple mole hill!
